Inspirational Design Videos

Here’s a pretty interesting and amazing video called ‘A Brief History of Title Design’ by Ian Albinson, briefly going over, you guessed it, the history of title design. The video flashes through amazing typography scenes from famous films throughout history, some you may be able to recognize!

Another video called ‘Storm‘ by Tim Minchin is another inspirational film. Unlike ‘A Brief History of Title Design,’ this one is actually pretty humorous and entertaining as it combines clean animation with poetry and rhymes to demonstrate the conflict of religion and science.

In the confines of a London dinner party, Tim argues with a hippy named Storm. While Storm herself may not be converted, audiences from London to Sydney have been won over by Tim’s wordplay and the timely message of the piece in a society where science is attacked as the enemy of religion, alternative medicine given credence and public funding, and psychics have prime time TV exposure.

Tim Minchin’s ‘Storm’ is a 9-minute beat poem that has become an anthem for critical thinking worldwide, attracting over half a million views of the audio upload alone. In 2010, the BAFTA-longlisted animated version received its film festival premiere at Encounters and was released to the general public on YouTube in April 2011.
