Hey guys, it’s about time I pulled out a Cinema 4D tutorial! This is my first one and I wanted to take it easy to see how everything would go. In this tutorial, we’re going to take a look at some basic 3D MoText, the Random Effector, and some basic lighting and texturing.
We’ll animate and set up the core animation within Cinema 4D, then in the next tutorial, we’ll bring it all together with color correction, compositing, and grading all within After Effects.
Watch Part 2 of the tutorial here

Hopefully you guys were able to follow along. It is definitely a lot different walking through Cinema 4D, especially with the screen estate! Don’t forget to play around with the lighting to get better looking bevels and reflections. I’d also recommend adding some more elements and movements in the scene.
Stay tuned for the next tutorial where we’re really going to have fun messing with this animation. Also, I’d love to hear what you guys thought of this tutorial. Should I slow down, go over more advanced stuff, etc? Love to hear the feedback!

This is really awesome !!
GOING to have to try this tonight
thanks for the awesome tutorial !
Thanks for your awesome support Stephan! Stay tuned for the more fun After Effects part coming later tonight
hey vinhson, me and a friend just started a project that basically is us making a youtube channel. And i was looking for something like this for an intro, so the question is, ca I use it (a version I made) I think I don’t need to ask but just wanted to.
Hey Antony, yes feel free to use it as an intro for whatever you’d like! Thanks for asking, and definitely show me what you come up with.
great tut, gonna be interesting seeing what you come up with after element 3d is out for a while.
anyway if i wanted to render the background texture as a seperate sequence (for more control in AE) i’d check the multipass option and then use a object buffer tag, right?
Correct, add an object buffer for the background and render it using multipasses. In fact, I’d recommend that as it’ll give way more options in the next part within After Effects.
Definitely buddy, I’m going to purchase Element 3D on launch day and dedicate tomorrow for Element stuff
Hey VihnSon,
Great Video man, very easy to follow and great look.
not sure if you’ll take this into consideration or not, but personally i think your old glass creative dojo banner logo looks the best. it was sometime during your development that i saw it. it came up cause im personally working on my website as well, doing all the coding myself and what not, and have been gaining some inspiration from your site. anyway best regards
Schoolpost,
Thanks for the feedback and support!
Oh yes, I do remember that banner. It was a quick render I whipped up, I thought it looked too plain. That’s awesome to hear, thanks again!
